Assistant Professor at the Institute of Geography and Spatial Planning of the University of Lisbon and Head of the Research Group on Climate Change and Environmental Systems (ZEPHYRUS) of the Centre for Geographical Studies of the University of Lisbon. Carla Mora has a PhD in Physical Geography from the University of Lisbon (2005) on mountain climatology. Her research interests focus on mountain climates, remote sensing of snow and vegetation, and on the effects of climate change on permafrost environments. She has participated in various research projects in the Antarctic Peninsula, the Arctic (Svalbard and Canada), Morocco and Cape Verde, as well as in Portugal. Carla Mora is principal investigator of the project THAWPOND on remote sensing of permafrost thaw lakes in northern Quebec. She is member of the Scientific Committee of the Estrela UNESCO Global Geopark, where coordinates group on research and education on climate change.
