Prof. Gonçalo Vieira, teacher at IGOT and researcher of the Centre for Geograhical Studies, was interviewed by the portuguese Newspaper Diário de Notícias.

In this interview, Prof. Gonçalo Vieira talks about the “adventure” of scientific research in Portugal and about  the great effort that was necessary to maintain the objective of creating a policy of support to polar research in Portugal .

The Portuguese Polar Program and the way the scarce financial resources that are used to make feasible the campaigns in the Arctic and in the Antarctica regions are also the subject of this interview, in which Prof. Gonçalo Vieira warns for the need of increased funding to maintain the quality of scientific production at international levels.
